Inspired by ‘Crime Patrol’, they ‘looted houses’

Police today arrested three students who allegedly looted several houses in Pabna inspired by the Indian TV serial 'Crime Patrol'.
The arrestees are: Likhon Hasan, 24, of Ishwardi's Digha village, Abul Bashar, 21, of Sadar upazila's Bhaduria Dangi village and Abdullahil Baki, 22, of Rajshahi's Kashiadanga, reports our Pabna correspondent.
Likhon is a third-year student at the Economics department of Pabna University of Science and Technology while Baki is a second-year student at the English department at Govt Edward College and Bashar is a university admission seeker, police said.
In the press briefing, Md Masud Alam, additional superintendent of police in Pabna, said, on January 11, the three entered a house in the Boro Bazar area by introducing themselves as teachers of a local coaching centre and looted Tk 72,000 and 4 bhori gold.
A day earlier, they attempted to enter a doctor's house in the guise of medical representatives, he said, adding the students learned the techniques of the crime by watching the Indian TV serial 'Crime Patrol'.
Police have recovered Tk 31,000, 4 bhori (46.64 grams) gold, and four mobile phones from their possession, he said.
Separate cases were filed in connection with these incidents, he added.
Police said the accused were arrested from different areas of the district after tracking down their electronic devices.
The arrestees were sent to the court of Pabna Judicial Magistrate for recording their statements under section 164 of the penal code, police said.
