HC refuses to stay trail of Niko graft case
A High Court bench yesterday refused to stay the trial of Niko graft case in which BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is an accused.
It also dropped a petition, filed by former Dhaka Club president Selim Bhuiyan seeking stay on the trial proceedings against him in the case, from its hearing list.
The bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Aminul Islam, however, said the petitioner Selim Bhuiyan can move the same petition before another bench.
Deputy Attorney General Sarwar Hossain Bappi said the HC bench declined to issue a rule and stay on the trial proceedings of Niko graft case as there are specific allegation against Selim Bhuiyan, who also recorded a confessional statement before a magistrate.
