Ex-AL leader Murad on 5-day remand over July uprising murder

A Dhaka court today placed Shah Alam Murad, former general secretary of Awami League Dhaka South City unit, on a five-day remand in a case filed over the death of 45-year-old trader Abdul Wadud in the capital's New Market area on July 19 last year.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Jonaid passed the order after police produced Murad before the court with a seven-day remand prayer, said a sub-inspector posted at the court.
On August 21, Abdur Rahman, the victim's brother-in-law, filed the case with New Market Police Station against Sheikh Hasina, the ousted prime minister and Awami League president, along with 129 others on charge of the murder during July mass uprising.
