ACC launches probe against Nayeemul Islam Khan

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated an investigation against senior journalist and former press secretary to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Nayeemul Islam Khan, over allegations of amassing illegal wealth.

The decision was made during an ACC meeting yesterday morning, a source from the commission confirmed to The Daily Star.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) flagged 163 bank accounts linked to Nayeemul and his family members. ACC officials suspect that he has laundered money abroad.

Following an analysis of preliminary information, the ACC decided to launch a formal investigation, aiming to uncover significant undisclosed assets allegedly belonging to Nayeemul Islam Khan and his family.
