6 Bangladeshis held by BSF while “smuggling Phensedyl”

India's Border Security Force (BSF) troops arrested six Bangladeshi nationals with Phensedyl bottles and packets of fish seeds from the border area when they were trying to smuggle the items to Bangladesh on Monday (June 13, 2022) night in West Bengal state's North 24 Parganas district.
At around 10pm on Monday, the BSF personnel deployed at Panitar were alerted on the basis of information and an ambush party was sent. Around 11:50pm local time, BSF jawans noticed the movement of some suspicious persons in the bamboo grove near Vidyadari Nala.
The BSF ambush party arrested six Bangladeshis with 221 Phensedyl bottles and 10 packets of fish seeds, a BSF statement said, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
The arrested persons hail from Satkhira district of Bangladesh, it said, adding they have been identified as Mohd Abdul Mujit (45) of Boladanga village, Md Ashikar Rehman (24) of Nalkura village, SK Wahidul Zaman (27) of Nebakhali village, Mohammad Sagar Hussain (21) of Agardari village, Robiul Ghazi (27) of Babulia village, and Liton Sardar (19) of Babulia village.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested persons revealed that they are Bangladeshi nationals and work as a labourers carrying smuggled items from India to Bangladesh, the BSF statement said.
They had come to India to collect items and every person was supposed to get 3,000 Bangladeshi taka for taking the smuggled items to Bangladesh.
They have been handed over to Basirhat police along with the seized items whose total value has been estimated at Indian Rs 3,95,374.
