3 held with knife from moving bus in Savar

Police detained three youths with a Burmese knife from a bus during a search operation at a "snatching hotspot" in Savar this evening.

They were detained from a Dhaka-bound Moumita Paribahan bus in the Bank Town area on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Savar at around 7:30pm, Shahinur Kabir, Dhaka district additional superintendent of police (Savar Circle) confirmed to The Daily Star.

The detainees are Tanvir Hossain Tanim, 18, Mamun Hasan Munna, 19, and Sohanur Rahman, 18.

In police custody, the detainees claimed themselves to be students while talking to journalists.

"A few days ago, there was a snatching incident on a moving bus in the area. There have been three such incidents in the last three months in the same area. In view of these, we were checking moving buses, especially local buses, by setting up checkposts," said the police official.

"This evening, while checking a Moumita Paribahan bus, we were able to arrest the three."
