2 top officials of e-commerce platform Akasnil arrested

Rapid Action Battalion arrested two top officials of e-commerce platform "Akasnil", including its managing director, on charge of swindling crores of money from people in the name of delivering product at discount price.

Mashiur Rahman, the MD and also the chief executive officer of the platform, and its director Iftekharuzzaman Rony were arrested from Dhaka and Faridpur rspectively, said Khandaker Al Moin, Rab's Legal and Media wing director.

Rab will hold a press briefing in this regard later in the day.

A customer filed a case yesterday with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, accusing seven top officials including the arrestees, for not delivering product after payment.

They were also made accused of issuing threat when the customer wanted the money back.

The complainant said the accused did not deliver product in more than six months even though they pledged to provide product within 20 days.

They swindled over Tk 6 crore from the complainant and 30 others, police said, quoting the case statement.
