17 senior police officers transferred

In an administrative reshuffle, 17 senior police officers, including with ranks of additional inspector general, additional deputy inspector general, and superintendent of police, have been transferred to new areas.

The Public Security Division of the home ministry issued two separate notifications in this regard today.

Abu Hasan Muhammad Tariq, addl IGP of police headquarters, have been transferred as rector (addl IGP) of Police Staff College; Md Marufat Hussain, SP of Natore, have been made Dinajpur SP; Md Amjad Hossain, AIG at police headquarters, has been appointed as Natore SP; and Md Zakir Hossain, SP of the Dhaka special branch, was posted as Dinajpur SP but later cancelled. Similarly, Md Abu Sayem Pradhan, commandant (SP) of Gaibandha's in-service training centre, was reassigned as SP of Chattogram but later cancelled.

The other transfers include: Md Saiful Islam Santu, SP of Tangail, now appointed as Chattogram SP; Md Mizanur Rahman, SP of CID, as Tangail SP.

Md Mahbub Hasan, deputy commissioner of DMP (Addl DIG), was initially reassigned to the Barishal Range DIG's office, but has been appointed as supernumerary SP (Addl DIG) of CID.

Another notification listed transfers of officials such as -- Tofail Ahmed, addl DIG of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn), has been transferred to police headquarters, Dhaka. Meanwhile, Tutul Chakraborty, addl DIG of Khulna river police, has been attached to Khulna Range DIG office.

Mohammad Taherul Haque Chowhan, joint commissioner of DMP, has been made additional commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police; Jesmin Keka, SP of Dhaka Special Branch, has been transferred to Rajshahi DIG Range office; Nikulin Chakma, commandant (SP) of Sunamganj in-service training centre, has been attached to Railway Police; Dr Humayra Parvin, DC of DMP, transferred to Police Training Centre, Ranpur; Abul Kashem Md Baki Billah, SP of Dhaka SB, has been made commandant (SP) of Dinajpur in-service training centre; Mahmudul Hasan, DC of DMP, is now commandant (SP) of Sylhet in-service training centre; and Rajib Das, recently promoted to supernumerary SP, was transferred from DMP (addl DC) to Tourist Police as its SP (supernumerary SP).
