Atiqul for fish farming in Dhaka lakes

Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam today said fish will be cultivated in Gulshan, Banani, and Baridhara lakes in the capital after preventing water pollution in the water bodies.

"Though we are cleaning the lakes, canals and drains regularly, sewerage lines of residential buildings are still polluting the water bodies consistently. Mosquitoes are breeding there," he said.

"We cannot let it happen anymore. Fish will be cultivated in Gulshan, Banani, and Baridhara lakes after preventing water pollution in these water bodies," Atiqul added.

The DNCC mayor said this while addressing as the chief guest at a fish fry releasing ceremony at Kuril Lake in the city on the last day of the National Fisheries Week 2022.

The mayor released fries of four carp species of fishes in Kuril Lake.
