Three teenagers died when their motorcycle hit a bus in front of Barishal University yesterday evening.

The deceased were identified as Shumon Hawladar, Chayan Das, and Rabbi Islam. All of them were tenth-grade students of Bakerganj JSU High School, reports our local correspondent quoting police.

Quoting locals and eyewitnesses, Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bandar Police Station, said that the accident occurred when the students tried to overtake a bus belonging to Ratul-Rohan Paribahan. They lost control of the motorcycle and hit the bus.

Following the incident, they were taken to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital by their friends and locals, where they succumbed to severe injuries, the OC said.

The three friends, along with 15 others, went on a day trip to Barishal city on six bikes, said the OC, adding that the police have seized the bus, but the driver fled the scene.
