Auto-rickshaw runs over girl in Gazipur

A child named was killed after being hit by an auto-rickshaw in Gazipur's Sreepur yesterday.

The victim is Samia Akhter, 6, daughter of Sattar of Karnapur village in the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Sreepur Police Station Mohammad Abdul Barik said the incident took place in the evening at Gosinga Bazar on the Barmi-Gosinga regional road.

She had gone to Gosinga Bazar with her relatives in the afternoon. While crossing the road at the market, a speeding autorickshaw hit her and she died on the spot.

Following the request of the deceased's family, the body was handed over to the relatives without an autopsy.

"We have not received any complaint from the family. Legal action will be taken if a complaint is filed," added the OC.
