2 killed in bus-truck collision in Rangpur
Two people were killed and five injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Rangpur-Dhaka highway in Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur early today.
Identities of the deceased could not be known yet, our Dinajpur correspondent reports quoting Shahjahan Ali, officer-in-charge (OC) of Baradargah Highway Police Camp.
The OC said the Dhaka-bound truck collided with the Rangpur-bound bus of "Mayer Doa Paribahan" coming from Dhaka near Bhavana petrol pump at Shathibari area around 5:30am, leaving two men dead on the spot and five other people injured.
On information, fire service personnel and police reached and recovered the two bodies from the spot, said the police official.
The OC said the body of one of the deceased, aged around 38, was recovered from the truck and the other, aged around 52, recovered from the bus. The bodies were kept in the police camp.
The injured were taken to Mithapukur Upazila Health Complex. One seriously injured person was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
