2 friends killed as oil tanker hits motorcycle in Narayanganj

Two teenage boys were killed and another injured as an oil tanker hit their motorcycle while taking a U-turn on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Narayanganj's Bandar upazila last night.
The deceased were identified as Adif Ahmed Shimul, 18, son of Yakub Ali from Muradpur in Bandar, and his friend Sheikh Md Shawon, 17, son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman from the same area. They were friends of each other.
Their friend Md Fahim, 18, was injured in the incident as well. He is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The accident took place around 10:00pm in Modonpur area, said Kazi Wahid Morshed, officer-in-charge of Kanchpur Highway Police Station.
According to eyewitnesses, the three freinds riding the motorcycle were taking a U-turn in the area near Deowanbag Sharif. The oil tanker which was heading towards Chattogram hit the bike, flinging it nearly 200 meters far. After hitting the motorcycle, the driver left the tanker on the highway and fled from the scene.
The three injured were taken to a local hospital, where doctors declared Shimul and Shawon dead, OC Kazi Wahid said.
Police have seized the tanker, but as of this noon, no case was filed.
