A baby elephant was found dead at Chattogram's Bashkhali upazila on Monday, making it the third gentle giant to be found dead in the upazila in two weeks.

Assumed to be around six or seven years old, the female elephant was found dead in Boilchori Tea Estate, our Chattogram correspondent reports quoting Abu Naser Md Yeasin Neyaz, divisional forest officer (wildlife and nature conservation) of Chattogram.

The animal was found in a decomposed state and is thought to have died five days ago.
