9 return home after jail terms in India
Nine Bangladeshi nationals returned home on Saturday through Tamabil border in Goainghat upazila after serving jail terms in India on charge of intrusion.
Indian police handed them over to Bangladesh`s immigration police at Tamabil border in the afternoon.
They are: Abdus Sobhan, 20, son of Ahad Mia, Taj Uddin, 19, son of Abdur Rahman, Shibli Ahmed, 19, son of Moinul Ahmed, Shamim Alam, 20, son of Mujibur Rahman, Sattar Ahmed, 20, and Nizam Uddin, 18, sons of Abdur Nur, Shukkur Ali, 26, son of Kadir Mia, Chandan Das, 32, son of Uma Kanti Das, and Shukkur, 25, son of Abdur Rahman.
They hailed from different villages of Jokiganj and Kanaighat upazilas of Syleht and Ajmeriganj upazila of Habiganj district, Tamabil immigration police sources said.
The sources said, members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) picked them up from Dhona and Lovachhara borders of Habiganj and Sylhet districts a few years ago for illegally entering India.
Later they handed them over to police who produced them before an Indian court which sentenced them to various jail terms after trial.
They returned home at 5pm after completing their jail terms in India.
