5 die taking toxic liquor in Chapainawabganj

At least five people, including a couple, died after taking toxic liquor in different areas of Shibganj municipality in Chapainawabganj on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Shudir Kumar, 55, and his wife Chantara, 45, Din Mohammad, Mosharraf Hossain Musa and Dulhu Das, reports our Chapainawabganj correspondent.

Shahidul Islam, a sub-inspector at Shibganj Police Station, said two cleaners - Sudhir and his wife – took toxic liquor at their house Wednesday night.

They fell sick after drinking the liquor. Sudhir died at Shibganj Upazila Health Complex around 7:30am while his wife breathed her last at their house around 3:30pm.

Nazrul Islam, another SI of the police station, said Din Mohammad and Musa died at their respective houses after taking toxic liquor while Dukhu breathed his last at Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital.
