4 slit throat in Narayanganj
Four people, including the wife of a union parishad chairman, were found slit throat at their house in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj Saturday morning.
The deceased are: Shamima Akter, 45, wife of Pirojpur UP Chairman Rafiqul Islam, her brother Rana, 25, and domestic helps Moni, 20, and Rekha, 22.
Shamima was the second wife of Rafiqul, vice president of BNP upazila unit and president of the party's Pirojpur UP unit, reports our Narayanganj correspondent.
Rafiqul is on a three-day trip to Singapore and Malaysia currently.
Police recovered the bodies from Rafiqul's Jhauchhara residence around 11:30am.
The law enforcers picked up Abdus Sattar, a security guard of the house, for interrogation in connection with the murder.
Quoting locals, Atiqur Rahman, acting officer-in-charge of Sonargaon Police Station, said Rafiqul, Shamima and the two maids used to live at that house. Rana came from Sylhet Friday night to visit his sister Shamima.
Guard of the house and Rafiqul's driver were first to sense that something bad might have happened as none of the four responded or received any phone calls since the morning. They later informed their relatives, according to the OC.
On information, police broke open the door of the house and found the bodies, he added.
During primary interrogation, security guard Abdus Sattar told police that he heard some shouts coming out of the house but he did not pay much attention to it, the OC said.
