Police in a drive arrested 12 activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, raiding a mess in Gouripur area of the district town on Wednesday.
The arrestees are M Selim Miah,27, M Saifullah,20, Imranul Islam, 22, M Rana ,20, Shihab Uddin,18, Shafiqur Rahman,18, M Murad,24, Arafat Hossain,18, Shahin Miah, 20, Manik Miah, 20, Dipak Kumar, 20 and Amnul Rosul,25.
Receiving information that Shibir activists were gathering at the mess 'Karim Villa' in Gouripur area to carry out a subversion ativities in the town,  police raided the mess and arrested the 12 Shibir men.
Law enforcers also recovered books on jihad from the mess.
