SC order Nov 15 on top officials' contempt
The Supreme Court has fixed November 15 for further order on the contempt-of-court case against 13 government officials, including four top secretaries, related to the judgment in the much-talked-about Masdar Hossain case.
A seven-member full court of the Appellate Division, headed by the chief justice, passed the order yesterday after a brief hearing from Attorney General Fida M Kamal.
The attorney general submitted a detailed report as asked by the apex court earlier on the measures taken on the eve of separation of the judiciary from the executive control in the light of its judgment in the Masdar Hossain case.
The government officials are facing a twin contempt-of-court case for distorting the 1999 Masdar Hossain judgment and impeding the implementation of the process of the judiciary separation.
