Purbani owner's house sealed off

Law enforcement agencies have alerted all land and airports across the country so that Mahbubur Rahman Joynal, one of the owners of Hotel Purbani International, cannot flee the country.
The Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) said they have also reinforced intelligence to arrest Nikita alias Ena, who has relations with Joynal, and her sister Pushpa Noor alias Sabita as the sisters are involved in dealing of Yaba tablets.
The law enforcers sealed off Joynal's Dhanmondi residence after the Rab recovered huge cache of diamonds and gold ornaments, alcoholic beverages, bonds, shares and foreign and local currencies worth around Tk 50 crore from the house on Tuesday. The Rab, however, did not find any Yaba tablet there.
At a press conference yesterday, the Rab-3 claimed that the law enforcement agencies have already traced Pushpa Noor's position and that she may be arrested anytime.
Earlier, an experts team including jewellery makers and National Board of Revenue officials was formed to assess the jewellery and other luxury goods.
"The experts team is scrutinising the recovered assets to ascertain whether they are earned legally or illegally," said Rab-3 Director Sultan Ahmed Noorani. He, however, expressed his doubt that such huge asset could be earned legally.
Based on intelligence report, the Rab has already confirmed that Nikita and Pushpa are involved in Yaba trading, but the law enforcement agency is yet to confirm Joynal's involvement in the trade.
The Rab said everything will be clear after capturing of any of the three.
According to Rab, Joynal and Nikita drove out of the house half an hour before the raid began. Nikita's father Abdun Noor claimed that his daughter is Joynal's wife, but the Rab suspects she is his girlfriend.
Rab officials said they found Nikita's photograph at the Gulshan office of detained Yaba dealer Amin Huda. The law enforcers made some progress after Nikita's acquaintance Dipa who once went to Huda's office with Nikita was held and disclosed information about Nikita's life and her possible whereabouts.
Following up the leads, the crime busters raided a flat on the 16th floor of Karnaphuli Garden City and interrogated Nikita's parents and brother.
Nikata's brother told interrogators that his sister had been living with Joynal at his house at Dhanmondi.
Joynal's brother Azizur Rahman who lives in the same building said they do not keep contact with him for his rowdy way of life.
Meanwhile, the Department of Narcotic Control on Tuesday night seized 400 Yaba tablets from the Uttara residence of Habibur Rahman Chowdhury Jewel, a Yaba importer.
Based on a report that Jewel imported 2,000 Yaba tablets from Myanmar, a narcotic control team raided Jewel's house and seized 400 Yaba tablets. Jewel escaped before the raid started.
