American & Efird to make 2,500 tonnes of sewing thread a year

Starts Bangladesh operations today

American & Efird Inc (A&E), one of the world's leading manufacturers of industrial sewing thread and yarn, starts its Bangladesh operations today to produce 2,500 tonnes of thread a year.
The new venture, American & Efird (Bangladesh) Ltd, will manufacture thread at its plant at Islampur in Gazipur district for local garment industry.
Officials of the venture are confident to offer quality thread to local industry.
"We have introduced the brands of A&E to Bangladeshis ensuring the highest quality," said Irfan Thassim, chief executive officer (CEO) of American & Efird (Bangladesh) Ltd, in press conference in Dhaka yesterday.
The company offers a wide range of quality brands.
Brandix Lanka Ltd, Sri Lanka's leading apparel exporter, and Brandot International Ltd, an investment firm that specialises in creating joint venture partnerships with apparel and textile companies, are the partners of A&E (Bangladesh) Ltd.
Aslam Omar, director of Brandix Lanka, said, "A&E is committed to conducting business with the highest regard to the natural environment in which we operate."
Terming the recent export fall in the Bangladesh's garment sector as 'seasonal', Thassim said Bangladesh's position in the global apparel market is very competitive and the country's present down trend will certainly be recovered at the end of the current year.
With a $300million yearly turnover, A&E having 38 manufacturing centers over the world and 59 service centers located in 50 countries continues to assist its customers.
