Honourable prime minister and her cabinet members give answers to the questions asked by members of parliament. I think it is one kind of accountability and transparency of the democratic government to the nation.
Honourable members don't often ask questions to parliament in public interest due to their 'over loyalty' to the government or party. So many important public issues don't get attention.
Moreover, general people have no access to the prime minister, cabinet members and other members belonging to the ruling party and the opposition.
The parliament secretariat may gather people's opinions through email or by post. That is how parliament members can learn about the people and their views.
