Housewife burnt alive in Rajbari

A housewife was burnt to death in a devastating fire in a house at Gobindapur village in Baliakandi upazila on Thursday night.
The dead was identified as Rumi Khatun, 28, wife of Nazir Mollah of the same village.
The police said the fire originated from an electrical short-circuit at about 10:30pm and engulfed the adjoining five rooms.
The victim was asleep when the fire broke out. Her husband and their six-year old daughter Mitu were not in the house at that time as they went to a neighboring village to attend a marriage ceremony.
The house owner claimed that cash and other valuables worth Tk 5 lakh were gutted by the blaze.
