20 Khulna rajakars sued for killing FF in '71
Twenty 'rajakars' of Batia-ghata upazila of Khulna district were sued yesterday for their involvement in the killing of freedom fighter Khalilur Rahman of east Baniakhamar under Khulna Sadar thana during the war of liberation in 1971.
The accused are Abu Taleb Morol alias ATM Rafique, Ali Akbar Haji, Mostafa Molla, Mahabubur Molla, Masum Billah, Dr Mohor Sheikh, Ruhul Molla, Akbar Molla, Abdul Hakim Gazi, Abdur Rashid Howlader, Mosharef Gazi, Nazrul Islam Mridha, Rustam Ali Sheikh, Hatem Ali Sheikh, Amjad Fakir, Yusuf Ali, Rajab Ali Sarder, Gaffar Golder, Zafar Molongi and Jalal Molla. All the accused are alive.
Sheikh Mohammad Ali, son of martyred freedom fighter Khalilur Rahman filed the case with the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Abu Ibrahim.
The Judge, Abu Ibrahim, received the case and directed the OC of Batiaghata Police Station, Kazi Abdus Salek to take necessary action in this regard after investigation.
According to the complainant, the accused gunned down his father before a large number of people at around 10 am on August 18, 1971 in front of Phulbari rajakar camp under Batiaghata upazila.
Four accused--Abu Taleb Morol alias ATM Rafique, Ali Akbar Haji, Mostafa Molla and Dr Mohor Sheikh--who sprayed bullets on Khalilur Rahman, sliced off his body into pieces and later threw it into the Nalua river, he alleged.
The complainant further said that the accused also killed a number of freedom fighters in the compound of Phulbari rajakar camp during the liberation war.
Besides, they looted houses of freedom fighters and violated women, he added.
Earlier on March 11 this year, another case was filed with the same court by Abdullah Golder of Balia-danga under the upazila accusing nine rajakars of killing his freedom fighter father Moslem Golder.
Rafiqul Morol alias ATM Rafique is the prime accused also in this case.
The prime accused of the aforesaid cases Abu Taleb Morol alias ATM Rafique, son of Wasel Morol of Phulbari village with present address at Dilkhola road under Khulna Sadar Police Station, served for 22 years as Khulna Bureau Chief of Dainik Inquilab.
He renamed him as ATM Rafique by an affidavit from a court in Dhaka after liberation of the country.
Rab-6 arrested him last year from his office when receiving bribe from Deputy Ranger Yunus Ali of Sundarbans Forest Division.
Authorities of Dainik Inquilab later sacked him. He is now on bail granted by a higher court.
