Mobile school launched in Ctg
A mobile primary school was launched in the port city yesterday for the underprivileged children.
Housed in a bus, the unique school started functioning with 50 students from poor families of West Bakalia area.
The school named 'Nurul Islam BSc MP Mobile Primary School' was inaugurated at a function on Chittagong Press Club premises. Awami League lawmaker Nurul Islam founded it.
Adviser to the prime minister Syed Modasser Ali, who was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony, said the initiative to set up such a school is unique. The local lawmaker has set an example for others by establishing it without seeking government help, he added.
Former minister MA Mannan inaugurated the mobile school.
Speaking on the occasion, Nurul Islam said majority of the children in different slums in the city have no access to education.
He said he plans to expand his 'project' to other areas of the city.
Kona Chowdhury, a teacher of the school, said the bus would arrive at a particular place at a fixed time every day and students would study inside the vehicle.
