FM Abu Sufian Shakil emerged unbeaten champion in the Pragati Insurance Open International Rating Chess Tournament securing 7.5 points after the end of the eighth and final round at the federation hall-room yesterday.
His Destiny teammate and national junior champion Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar became runner-up with the same points.
In the day's last round matches, Shakil drew with Sohel, Sagar beat Amin, Parag drew with Alamgir while Emon drew with Robin.
FM Mehdi Hasan Parag finished third.
Managing Director of Pragati Insurance Company Limited AKM Rafiqul Islam and former Minister Shafiqul Gani Swapan distributed prizes among the winners with Leonine Chess Club president Capt (retd) Imam Anwar Hossain in the chair.
