Lilliput-ra Boro Hobey on Channel i
Feature film "Lilliput-ra Boro Hobey" will be aired on Channel i tomorrow (December 30) at 10 pm as part of the 9th National Election special programmes.
Written by Mainul Ahsan Saber and directed by Rakibul Hasan, the film features Raisul Islam Asad, Afsana Mimi, Khairul Alam Shobuj, Chitralekha Guha and Azad Abul Kalam in key roles.
The film centres on Abdul Karim, an English teacher at Birulia High School. Karim's teaching method is a bit different from others. He elaborately goes over the background of a literary work and provides explanation and analogies so that the students can relate to what they are studying.
While going over Jonathan Swift's satirical novel "Gulliver's Travels," Karim compares the Lilliputians with the poor and disadvantaged, and the Brobdingnags with the powerful wealthy. According to the teacher, Gulliver represents the middle class. These analogies generate much interest and debates in the village. Karim becomes popular for his social consciousness and poses a threat to the authority of Aftab Molla, an influential local. As in every story, good has to confront evil but who prevails?
