Car bombing kills 4 at Baghdad restaurant
At least four Iraqis were killed when a car bomb exploded outside a popular restaurant in Baghdad yesterday, security officials said.
The attack took place in the predominantly Shia Muslim district of Shola in northeastern Baghdad, sources from the interior and defence ministries told AFP.
"Four people were killed and 13 wounded when a car bomb that was parked on the side of the road blew up," an interior ministry source said.
Women were among the wounded, the officials said, warning that the number of casualties may rise.
Earlier three American soldiers were killed in a vehicle accident in southern Iraq on Wednesday, the US military said in a statement.
The statement gave no further details of the circumstances of the accident but said it was under investigation.
The latest deaths take to 4,216 the number of members of the US military who have died in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, according to an AFP tally based on the independent website www.icasualties.org.
US military losses saw a slight rise last month, with 17 troops killed compared with 13 in October and 25 in September, according to the website.
