Foreign currencies seized, 6 held

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in several drives yesterday arrested six alleged criminals and seized huge foreign currencies and other goods from Dinajpur and Joypurhat.
Acting on a tip-off, Rab conducted a drive at a residential hotel in Station road area in Dinajpur and seized 65,400 Indian Rupees and arrested Uzzal Mia, 39, and Bimol Saha in this connection.
In a joint drive of Rab and BDR at Bagzana in Joypurhat huge quantity of Indian clothes worth about Tk 1,12,75,000 were also seized.
Rab also arrested Shihab Mia, 28, Zakirul Islam, 22, Babu Mia, 25, and Yusuf Ali, 40, in this connection.
The arrested people and seized items were hand over to the respective police stations, Rab said.
