Ershad blasts AL men for not campaigning
Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad yesterday accused the Awami League of betraying with the party in 11 constituencies and asked AL candidates of Rangpur region to stop campaigning in the greater interest of the grand alliance.
“There is no other election symbol but plough for the people of Rangpur,” he said at an election rally in Rangpur.
Ershad said JP candidates were nominated as the candidate of grand alliance in 18 out of 22 constituencies in Rangpur region as per decision of the alliance.
"But the AL candidates did not quit the polls race yet in a few of the seats, which were allocated in favour of JP," he said at different election meetings in the district.
The JP chief asked the AL candidates not to continue their campaigns further in Rangpur-4, Rangpur-5, Gaibandha-4 and Gaibandha-5 because those constituencies are known as the vote banks of JP.
"AL has betrayed though JP sacrificed a lot for the grand alliance," said Ershad adding that seat sharing issue of Rangpur-4 and Rangpur-5 constituencies would be settled shortly.
He further said the country witnessed a wave of supports in favour of the grand alliance. "This proves that the grand alliance is coming to power with majority of seats.”
