Alliances to see tough fight in all 5 seats
Candidates of grand alliance and four-party alliance will have a tough contest in all the five constituencies in Sunamganj in the upcoming election.
In Sunamganj-1 constituency, there is likely to be a triangular fight among two candidates of grand alliance and four-party alliance with an independent candidate.
Four-party alliance has nominated former BMA joint secretary Dr Rafique Chowdhury against grand alliance candidate Awami League (AL's) Moazzem Hossain Ratan, a comparatively new face in the constituency. Independent runner and former BNP lawmaker Nozir Hossain has posed a threat to them in this constituency.
In Sunamganj-2, grand alliance nominee and AL stalwart Suranjit Sengupta and four-party alliance candidate and former BNP lawmaker Nasir Uddin Chowdhury are in the election race. There is likely to be a tough fight between Sen and Nasir in the constituency.
In Sunamganj-3, four-party alliance candidate Maolana Shahinur Pasha Chowdhury of Islamic Oikya Jote (IOJ) is contesting with grand alliance candidate and AL leader Abdul Mannan, also former election commission secretary.
In Sunamganj-4, grand alliance candidate and Jatiya Party (JP) leader Momtaj Iqbal will vie with four-party alliance leader and former BNP whip Fazlul Haque Aspia. Former BNP lawmaker Nozir is also another independent candidate in the seat.
In Sunamganj-5, four-party alliance candidate and former BNP lawmaker Kolim uddin Milon is likely to face a big fight with grand alliance candidate and former AL lawmaker Muhibur Rahman Manik.
