UPDF to cast 'no vote' in Rangamati
United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF), an underground political platform which has been opposing the CHT peace accord since its signing, will cast 'no vote' in Rangamati constituency in the upcoming national election.
UPDF, the rival of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS), has taken the decision of casting 'no vote' as they failed to field a candidate in Rangamati to vie in the election race.
In a press release Shanti Deb Chakma, a district top-notch leader of UPDF, alleged that their candidate went to the office of the returning officer (RO) to file his nomination paper, but the RO did not accept his nomination paper.
He alleged that as part of a conspiracy, the district administration has done this to keep away the UPDF from participating in the parliament election.
UPDF does not believe that the candidates taking part in the polls are competent, honest and graft-free and that's why it has taken the decision to cast 'no vote' in the election in Rangamati, he added.
UPDF fielded candidate in Khagrachhari constituency this time but failed to submit nomination papers in Rangamati and Bandarban.
