AL blasts BNP for nominating Salam Pintu

Awami League yesterday blasted BNP for giving nomination to Abdus Salam Pintu, a chargesheeted accused in the August 21 grenade attack case.
"Giving nomination to such an accused who wanted to kill Sheikh Hasina and killed Ivy Rahman and many others is nothing but provocative," AL spokesman Syed Ashraful Islam told reporters when asked to comment on BNP nominations. He also asked if its arch political rival wanted to push the country towards civil war by giving tickets to “killers” and “bombers”.
He said the corrupt people who looted country's wealth have also been given nomination and urged BNP to refrain from giving nominations to such corrupt persons and bomb attackers.
He said still there is time for the BNP leadership to take correct decision about nomination.
Briefing newsmen at party president's political office at Dhanmondi after a meeting with 14-party alliance leaders, Ashraf said his party has finalised the sharing of seats with its allies. He hoped that they would be able to reach an understanding on seat sharing with Jatiya Party soon.
Ashraf said they will contest the election unitedly and, if elected, form government unitedly.
He said if the December 29 parliament elections are held in a free and fair manner, the Awami League-led grand alliance will win with a big margin.
