Two jailed for producing adulterated ghee

A mobile court yesterday sentenced two owners of a food products factory in the city to seven years' imprisonment for producing and selling adulterated ghee.
Haji Nazrul Islam and his brother Haji Abdul Jabbar, owners of Jamil Chemical and Foods Products Limited Industries, were also fined Tk 2.5 lakh each. If they fail to pay, they will have to serve three more years in jail.
The court also fined factory Manager Mohammad Jamshed Tk 2.5 lakh. If he fails to pay, he will have to serve three years in jail.
The mobile court led by Magistrate Rokon-ud-Doula found 15 maunds of adulterated ghee, 2,000 cartons of adulterated dalda and vegetable oil and around 2,000 cartons of adulterated mosquito coil and Neem tooth powder in the factory at North Rayerbagh in Jatrabari.
