Diarrhoea hits flooded areas in Khulna
Diarrhoea has broken out among flood-affected areas of Dakop and Koira upazilas in Khulna district where 50,000 marooned people are suffering for want of drinking water.
Several hundred houses in over twenty villages in the two upazilas, inundated after swelling of Shibsha, Passur and Kobadak rivers due to high tides during depression over the Bay of Bengal since last Tuesday, are still under five to seven feet water.
A large number of marooned people suffering from want of food are yet to get any relief from the district administration.
Officials of Water Development Board said cross dams that collapsed due to high tides and rise in water level are yet to be reconstructed as rising water level is hampering works.
