Application forms available from Oct 19

The Deans' Committee of Dhaka University (DU) yesterday primarily decided to start admission process for the first year honours courses of the university for the sessions 2008-2009 from November 14.
Sale and submission of the application forms for admission will continue from October 19 to November 3.
The price of each form has been fixed at Tk 300.
The decision of the deans' committee will be finalised at a academic committee meeting of the university on September 20, said DU Vice Chancellor Prof SMA Faiz.
According to the deans' committee decision, admission tests will start with C (Ga) unit under Business Studies Faculty on November 14. Admission test for A (Ka) unit under Science Faculty, B (Kha) unit under Arts Faculty, and D (Gha) unit (combined) under Social Sciences Faculty will be held on November 21, November 28 and January 2 respectively.
Through the four admission tests, over 5,000 students will get admission in the departments under ten faculties and institutes.
This year, GPA (grade point average) has been increased by .5 than the previous year in each faculty as eligibility for sitting for the admission test.
Excluding fourth subjects, students, who achieved GPA 8 for science background, GPA 6.5 for humanities group and 7.5 for business studies group in the SSC and HSC examinations will be eligible to sit for the admission test.
The application forms must be duly filled in by the applicants and submitted to the deans' offices of the units concerned during office hours, authorities said.
