New Nat'l Skill Dev Council formed

A new National Skill Development Council (NSDC) has been formed with Chief Adviser or Prime Minister as its chairman.
Education adviser or minister and labour adviser or minister will be the vice- chairmen of the council, says a government handout.
Secretary to labour and employment ministry will be the member-secretary of the 36-member council.
The council will be the apex body of all government and non-government organisations in conducting any kind of training and capacity building programmes.
It will be the centre point of all ministries.
An 18-member executive committee has also been formed to implement the decisions, advices and directions of the NSDC.
Education secretary and chairman of Chittagong Skill Development Centre will be the co-chairmen while the joint secretary (administration and development) to labour and employment ministry will be the member- secretary of the committee.
The committee will send proposals to the NSDC for formulating policies, plans and laws regarding capacity building and training and receive its approval.
Besides, the committee will conduct training, take programmes for encouraging workers to participate in the training, evaluate their professional capacity considering global standard and conduct national capacity survey.
The committee can take technical, secretarial and logistic supports from any government, semi-government, non-government and autonomous organisations.
Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMTE) will be the secretariat of the NSDC and the executive committee.
The previous circular on the formation of the National Council for Skill Development and Training has been cancelled, the handout added.
