'Extend town-based treatment facilities to village level'
Special Assistant to Chief Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) MA Malek called for extending the town-based medical facilities to village level for reaching it to the doorstep of farmers.
He made the remark while addressing a memorial meeting marking the 19th death anniversary of National Professor Dr Mohammad Ibrahim, founder of Bangladesh Diabetic Association, and Service Day at Birdem auditorium yesterday.
Lauding the initiative of extending the activities of Diabetic Association to upazila level, Malek said many service takers come to take service as the transparency and accountability are ensured in the activities taken up jointly with government and non-government efforts.
He assured that 80 percent of facilities, which are given from government, would be increased further if the treatment service project is expanded up to village level.
He called upon the well-off section of the society to come forward in this regard.
Major General Ziauddin Ahmed and Prof AK Azad also spoke on the occasion, which was chaired by Major General (Retd) AR Khan.
