The unfortunate nation
It looks like Bangladesh politics is now going back to square one. The commendable steps that were taken by the CTG are being retracted and negotiated with the criminal politicians who have robbed the country of its potential and development from the very beginning.
As an expatriate Bangladeshi American, its a truly sad site for me to see that this country is so unfortunate to have a network of corrupt people who actually get support from their parties and the people who are voting for them. How can the politicians support a corrupt individual publicly?
Are Bangladeshi people that ignorant that they don't know whether a politician represents his own interest or the country's? The constant support of this old world corrupt individuals on TV makes me laugh and I actually feel sorry.
The next generation of thinkers and talented individuals now do not see any future for Bangladesh and are taking the first chance to move out to a country where their talents are appreciated.
How did Bangladesh come to this juncture? The truth is that the Indian subcontinent, including Bangladesh and Pakistan, has people who simply do not know how to govern themselves. They come from the background of Empires, Kingdoms, Colonialism and being just peasants. They see the politicians as the king, where in truth they should be slaves and serving the people. The only interest they should have in parliament is what is assigned to them by their constituents, not their party.
As for myself, I have been a Network Communications Engineer for the last 10 years working for various multinational firms. I was recently thinking it would be useful for me to go back to my country and give something back from my knowledge and make investments that would be good for me and the country. However, it looks like I have to back off from that vision. There are no benefits that will come out trying to give something to someone who does not know how to value it. Bangladesh will keep losing its talented sons to the outside world. A nation's future lies with its people. If the talented young people are moving out, than the nation basically has no future.
