Unidentified muggers snatched Tk 6000 away from a newspaper sales centre in the city's Motijheel area yesterday morning.
Mohammad Jalal Ahmed Jehadi, general secretary of Sangbadpatra Hawkers' Kalyan Bahumukhi Samabaya Samity Ltd, said a gang of local criminals, including Bhutto, Mosharraf and Pintu, snatched away the amount at about 6:00am from the Motijheel Sales Centre.
He mentioned that the criminals had been demanding extortion from them.
The miscreants also threatened to snatch money from all of their sales centres if they were not paid the tolls.
