Australian cricket superstar Shane Warne's ex-wife has accused him of ruining a reconciliation attempt by mistakenly sending her a text message meant for his lover.
But the spin wizard hit back Monday, claiming his wife fabricated stories to make money from the media.
Simone Callahan, who divorced Warne last year over his notorious womanising -- often discovered through indiscreet text messages -- told the weekly magazine New Idea their relationship was "over forever now."
She said she was getting their three children ready for school in Melbourne when a text from Warne, who was in London, dropped into her mobile phone inbox.
"Hey beautiful, I'm just talking to my kids, the back door's open," the message said.
Callahan fired back: "You loser, you sent the message to the wrong person."
She said the message confirmed her suspicions Warne was again cheating on her after an attempted reconciliation and that his lover had been to their London home before.
"For her to know her way to the back door means she's been there before so this has obviously been going on for some time."
She said she had held suspicions about his fidelity since July and confronted Warne with her fears, but he denied any wrongdoing.
"Deep in my heart I knew sooner or later he'd do it again," she said.
"I'm angry that I was fooled again. Shane's not the person he says he is."
When news of the interview broke, Warne issued a statement saying he and Callahan had agreed to separate almost two months ago.
"Unfortunately, I find it now necessary to release a statement due to Simone's latest paid factually incorrect interview with New Idea," he said.
"We have been divorced for over a year. Simone and I finally separated nearly two months ago on August 5th 2007 when we left Spain and before Simone's planned departure with the children back to Australia.
"Simone did not want to release a statement because she thought it was nobody's business but ours, and I agreed.
"We gave our relationship a go in the UK but it just wasn't working, so we agreed amicably to go our own way.
"The only reason we separated was that we both knew it was finally over. There was no affair, nor anyone else."
Warne retired from international cricket in January this year, finishing his 145-Test career with 708 wickets, the most by any bowler. He now plays county cricket in England.
