Canada monitoring preparations for polls

Canada continues to monitor preparations for Bangladesh's parliamentary elections and has shown interest in supporting the electoral process.
“Canada continues to monitor closely preparations for the December 2008 parliamentary elections in Bangladesh and is proud to support efforts towards a free, fair and peaceful election," new Canadian Foreign Minister David L Emerson said in a letter to Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury.
In the letter, received here yesterday, the Canadian minister assured the foreign adviser that he would work to further advance Canada-Bangladesh relations in the areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, democratic development, and security.
