A total of 2217 students, faculty members and staffs of Premier University yesterday urged the government to allow arrested Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury to stay beside his ailing daughter who is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bangkok.
In a press release, they urged the government to consider the matter from humanitarian point of view and said Mohiuddin's presence bedside his daughter would help improve her condition.
Fawzia Sultana Tumpa, a student of the Department of English Language and Literature of the university and daughter of the mayor who is the founder of the university, has been suffering from cancer and was admitted to a hospital in Bangkok.
“At present Fawzia's condition is not good and her teachers, friends and university staffs are very worried about her,” the release added.
