Int'l ICT confce begins at RU

A three-day International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Communications (ICECC) began at Rajshahi University (RU) senate building yesterday.
Bangladesh Electronics Society of Rajshahi organised the conference.
Prof Nazrul Islam, chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC), inaugurated the conference.
Rajshahi University Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Mamnunul Keramat was present on the conference as the chief guest.
Prof Bazlul Mobin Chowdhury, vice chancellor of Independent University Bangladesh, Dr Shafiqul Islam Bhuiyan, chairman of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission and RU Treasurer Prof Dr Mozammel Haque were present as the special guests on the function.
Prof Mozaffor Hossain, convener of Bangladesh Electronics Society, Rajshahi presided over the function.
In his inaugural speech UGC Chairman Prof Nazrul Islam appealed the government to increase allotments for ICT sector in the budget and urged the students and the teachers to better use of the fund.
Around 400 scientists, researchers and professionals including 30 foreigners from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Canada and Japan were present on the programme.
