A lane in the capital's Rokeya Sarani stretching from Mirpur-10 roundabout to Shewrapara remained closed for the second day yesterday due to maintenance works of a Wasa sewerage line near Shewrapara.
The closure of the lane resulted in a long tailback at Mirpur section-10 and its adjoining areas causing sufferings to hundreds of commuters.
Besides, many Mirpur-bound vehicles took the Mirpur Road to reach their destinations creating gridlock at Mirpur-1 intersection.
Deputy Commissioner of Traffic (West) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Awlad Ali Fakir said they closed the lane after the Dhaka City Corporation sought their cooperation for maintenance work of the Wasa sewerage line.
He said the task was scheduled to be completed by yesterday evening.
