Corruption, militancy obstruct development
Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain yesterday said corruption, terrorism and militancy had obstructed development of the country.
“Those who indulged in corruption are enemies of the country and its people. The people in general are victims of corruption,” Dr Kamal told a meeting while distributing seeds among the flood-affected farmers here.
He said he was confident that corruption could be checked if the people stood united.
Later, talking to newsmen Dr Kamal, also an eminent jurist, said the culture of corruption rooted deeply because of atrophied politics could not be eliminated overnight. “We have to wait if we want to derive the benefits of the ongoing anti-corruption drive. Small corrupt people should also be brought to book along with the big ones.”
He later distributed seeds and water purifying tablets among the flood-affected farmers.
