Bipasha Basu going off-track
She may have come to be known as Bollywood's most sizzling actress but that has not stopped her from choosing to act in roles different from what she has done before. Bipasha Basu is going off the beaten track.
Bipasha has signed up for off-track roles in a Rituparno Ghosh movie Shab Charitro Kalponik (also starring Prasenjit) and a Hindi film Pankh.
The actress, who was here to walk down the ramp in a fashion week, told reporters that in Ghosh's movie she plays the role of a non-resident Indian woman --married to a poet -- who is struggling to come to terms with the changed reality. And in Pankh, she is the alter ego of a man who is confused about his gender identity.
What prompted Basu to take up these roles? Her answer is that she thought that both of them were “interesting”.
At the same time, she continues to be very much in mainstream Bollywood films. Abbas Mastan's Race featuring Bipasha is going to be released soon and she also appears in a romantic comedy.
Walking the ramp is nothing new for the former model but this time she chose to display the dress of a new designer, sporting an elaborate gown in black and white lace.
