BCL men vandalise RU admin building
A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists at Rajshahi University vandalised the administrative building and besieged it for an hour yesterday as the authorities have not appointed them to different posts of teachers, officials, and employees recently.
The pro-ruling party students alleged that the authorities recruited pro-Jamaat-e-Islami and BNP people in exchange for money.
RU BCL Vice President Masud Rana led a group of around 25 BCL vandals. Local Awami League and Jubo League men, who also failed to get job, joined the BCL men, leaving doors, windows, and furniture of several rooms in the administrative building vandalised.
On Wednesday, the RU authorities finalised appointment of 184 employees, 26 officers and 20 teachers. The BCL men launched the attack when the university authorities started distributing the appointment letters yesterday morning.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof M Nurullah said they would take stern action against those who were responsible for the attack.
