Observing Ekushey Through Cultural Programmes
On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, the 15th Amar Ekushey Cultural Convention and Bhasha Shainik Shommanona '13 by Padatik Bangladesh will be held today at Ramna Batomul, Dhaka.
This year, language movement veteran and senior painter Murtaja Baseer will be honoured by Padatik Bangladesh.
Noted cultural personality Kamal Lohani will be present as chief guest at the programme. Golam Kuddus, vice president of Sammilito Sanskritik Jote and Hasan Arif, general secretary of Sammilito Sanskritik Jote will be present as special guests at the programme.
Noted poets, elocutionists, singers, and dancers will take part at the cultural programme. The Daily Star is a partner of the event.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has also chalked out discussions and cultural programme marking the occasion. The event, to be held at the open premises of the Academy from 4:30pm will feature solo performances by Shahin Samad, Abdul Jabbar and Rafiqul Alam among others; choral rendition of songs by a number of groups; recitations by Jayanta Chattapadhyay, Laila Afroze and Dalia Ahmed; group dance performances; cultural performances by ethnic communities and songs in colloquial languages.
