Two more bodies were recovered from the salvaged launch MV Rustom yesterday, a day after it capsized in the Meghna in Munshiganj.
The death toll now stands at 14 while five people are still missing, said Md Saiful Hassan Badal, deputy commissioner of Munshiganj.
The Fire Service and Civil Defence authorities called off the rescue operation around 10:15am after the rescue vessel MV Rustom pulled the launch ashore, added the DC.
The Matlab-bound launch capsized in the Meghna at Gazaria upazila after being hit by a sand-laden cargo vessel on Friday morning.
The deceased are Hajera Begum Baby, 48, Majibor Rahman, 45, Shahjalal, 38, Moktar Hossain, 35, Md Suman, 30, Moyna Akhter, 26, Helena Akhter, 18, China Begum, 25, Tania, 17, Moni Akhter, 15, Ibrahim Khalil, 8, Mim, 8, Sanjid, 3, and Prince, aged about 17 months.
A case was filed last night with Sonargaon Police Station in Narayanganj in this connection.
